Participant Profile for Clare Butcher Last Updated: May 21, 2009
I am from , United Kingdom and I am 43 years old. I’ve been skydiving for 6 years years and have made 500 skydives during that time. My professional occupation is Firefighter.
My Biography: I am a Firefighter and work for London Fire Brigade alongside my lovely hubby Neil. I have a wonderful daughter, Lydia, who is hopefully working her little socks off and studying hard at University. That's what she always tells me anyway! Outside of working hours, I help children understand the dangers of playing with fire. This scheme is run by a very dedicated team employed by the LFB. I was helped by a great bunch of skydivers on one occassion to make a video for two teenage brothers I was working with at the time. This was a great success thanks to the skydivers who gave their time and the cameraman who put it all together. (You know who you are guys) My top fave skydiving acheivements for this year are the 100 ways we completed in Perris California and winning the Silver Medal with Super Duper "Team Blizzard" in 8 Way (Intermediate Division)at the National Championships held at Hibaldstow in the UK - Woohoo! Go Blizzard
My Hobbies & Other Interests: What? You mean there's more to life other than skydiving? Doggies! - We haven't had a pooch for a couple of years now and I miss long, muddy walks. I love horses. I kept and rode horses when i was young so I love to go horse riding when i get the opportunity. Also, being in the great outdoors. I work in London so I go to the countryside at every opportunity. I like being by the sea too (even in the winter). Oh, and pottering about in the garden. Mmm, skydiving and gardening? Odd combination! If you asked my family what i like to do they would say painting! I am always re-decorating and i will paint anything and everything!
Why I feel it’s important to participate in JFTC: Being part of JFTC is special to me because it demonstrates a great sense of togetherness (like a band of bothers - or sisters!) Raising funds and raising awareness in this unique way, I hope, helps to demonstrate peoples support and determination to fight against Cancer.
