Participant Profile for Valerie Estabrook Last Updated: August 17, 2009
I am from Boise, Idaho and I am 52 years old. I’ve been skydiving for 26 years and have made 2000 skydives during that time. My professional occupation is Electronics Specialist.
My Biography: Started jumping in 1982 at Sheridan Oregon, with Ted Mayfield. Made my first 50 jumps under round canopies, what an experience! Off DZ landings were common and a good PLF saved us from bodily damage! After getting on a square canopy I got involved with a 4-way crew team and we did lots of local demos for fun and free beer! In the good ol days of Canopy relative work we just threw a stack together with whatever canopies we had and downplanes, pinwheels, and landing side-by's were crowd thrillers. The canopies were forgiving, wraps were few, and that demo beer was good! After fun jumping for many years I decided to travel to DZ's with big airplanes, organizers, and training camps. Learning big-way FS has been a fantastic journey, awesome people, terrific skydives, some not so hot, but always fun! Back home I have fun passing on what I've learned to new skydivers and seeing their excitement motivates me to stay with this amazing sport!
My Hobbies & Other Interests: Snow skiing, hiking, river rafting, gardening, beading, playing with my cats, playing with grandkids, watching wildlife, cooking, and learning new things...
Why I feel it’s important to participate in JFTC: I want to contribute to a cause that helps a lot of people, sets a good example for young women, and encourages all of us to work together for a common goal. The positive energy created by this event sends a message of hope, harmony, love, and wellness around the world! It's the greatest feeling to share in the accomplishment of a World Record with all the beautiful, talented women, words cannot describe how fantastic it is!
