Yet another newsletter

Greetings again to the wonderful people of JFTC (I can’t seem to make this final!)

I can’t seem to let you go, but there is always more to share with you. I will not make you cry this time, honest!

I do want to share a few things I missed last time, and a few things that have happened since last time…

First–I neglected a strong supporter of JFTC: Doug Forth–who not only ran the men’s support team but was one of the main coaches of the women’s dives. THANK YOU DOUGIE

Second– all the men who volunteered (yes, they paid for their jumps) to lay base for the women’s 60 ways. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Without you we would not have been able to build a record.

Third–The MWR, AKA the Men’s World Record. First–you supported JFTC in word, thought and deed. You cheered us on before and after each jump, you raised money for JFTC, and you provided much needed support. THANK YOU!!! Photos on facebook.com and other sites. We were cheered on for every skydive from take off to formation to landing. The energy given to us by the guys is paramount to our success! Thank you again to Larry Henderson, Randy Garman and Jason Russell, who made the Men’s World Record a success. They also raised a significant amount for JFTC in the process. GUYS ROCK!

Fourth–Jeffrey Taffet MD. Most of you are not aware of Jeff’s help–and count yourselves as the lucky ones. Jeffrey is an ENT (ears nose throat) specialist who was on the Men’s dives and he made sure that at least 3 women (that I know of) are now record holders instead of watchers. Thank you JEFFREY!

Fifth–The media for JFTC has been fantastic and above all expectations. A sample of the coverage we have gotten is available at http://www.jumpforthecause.com/press_room.html Much more has happened since this was uploaded but simply google JFTC or check it on youtube and you will have an idea of the support we received.

Sixth–The documentary being filmed at JFTC has a web page– check out www.pinksyz.com for more information.

Seventh–JFTC photos are now available for sale at http://www.shutterfly.com/progal/gallery.jsp?gid=768a5498ce7e7b892266 all proceeds go to JFTC and City of Hope. Many photos are also available on Facebook on my page (kate cooper-jensen) and others. Search for best results. I have found many photos that are worthy of “best of the event” online–find your own and post them!

Eighth–There are many videos available on Youtube about JFTC. MWR participant Luke Oliver has his own “channel” at http://www.youtube.com/user/JFTC2009#g/u and there are many other JFTC related videos available by search. One option can be found at http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=JFTC&search_type=&aq=f or http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jump+for+the+cause&search_type=&aq=0&oq=Jump+for+the+C (modify your own searches for best results) also http://www.avweb.com/news/skywrite/JumpForTheCause_FreefallRecord_201260-1.html for a different “whuffo” view and a podcast and our own Jaclyn Kaylor on CNN’s Nancy Grace here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX6G55skgHA

Ninth–Now is the time for you to present articles and footage for your own national magazines, newspapers and television programs. Much of the footage for JFTC has been participant driven and it all helps the cause. Please do not be afraid to write an article (or borrow material) for your countries skydiving publication–trust me–it will be read and it will be appreciated!

Tenth–The “Pink Blues” as it has been dubbed is real–it’s not the flu and it is not your imagination. But it is temporary. JFTC is over, the rest of your life has continued. But it is never too early–or late–to make every day your personal best. :D See you somewhere in the world–all of a sudden!

Miss you and love you all, my women of JFTC

Tandem and Tunnel for the Cause Update!

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Perris Valley Skydiving School and Perris SkyVenture are pleased to announce that we now have over 120 participants signed up for our JFTC fundraiser! Gayle Ellmore, one of our participants, was the first to jump, having raised $350 so far and she is still fundraising! She jumped on August 29th and dedicated her jump to Kelly. Today, three more participants, Toi Costakes, who herself is a cancer survivor, Nick Costakes and Patti Woolfolk reached their fundraising goals and Jumped for the Cause!

Most participants have scheduled their skydives during the up-coming JFTC week to be able to witness the 180-way women’s world record attempts. We are very excited for them to be part of this amazing fundraising event! So this week if you’re on the DZ, please look out for tandem students jumping in pink T-shirts, as they are jumping for the cause too!

The race for the prize of the free pro-video for the person who raises the most amount of money has been a tightly fought contest, with three participants, Robert Brown, Pamela Ryba  and Alva Davis battling for the prize having each having raised over $1500! The contest was won by Robert who has raised $1934 so far!
