Greetings!

Springtime is over and summer is upon us. Virtually all of the JFTC slots have now been assigned and we have a healthy and thriving K plane flying in formation with us.

As many of you know JFTC has brought on an assistant event manager, Adrian Davies, to help with the backlog of email and communications. Adrian’s email is adriandavies@live.com and please contact him (NOT Richard) for any questions related to the non-skydiving part of the event. Please also CC Mallory at her new JFTC email address mallory. jftc@gmail.com during this transition period.

Karina is working closely with Adrian and Mallory to keep the many details of JFTC running smoothly and Kate will still be the contact for skydiving specific questions.

In Dawn’s case she has been overwhelmed by a series of single requests from many people so we are trying to bundle requests to her to lessen the email load she is receiving. Apologies for the delays and frustration you have experienced and know that we are well aware of the issues at hand and are working to resolve them.

There have been some questions about Airport to DZ transfers. This is NOT included in the JFTC price. There is a great network between Facebook, Dropzone.com and our own JFTC website where women can get together and plan ride shares and car hires. A shared hire shuttle from LAX to Perris is possible as well as individual car hires. At this time we are still finalizing the hotel situation and have not planned on offering transfers from hotel to dropzone. This may change but again–there will be so many women housed at each hotel I think ride shares should be possible for all.

The JFTC forum http://jftc.jumpforthecause.com/phpBB3/ is a great way to arrange transfers and jumpsuit trades/swaps. The JFTC Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=18186680967&ref=ts is also available for networking. There are quite a few JFTC related Facebook pages out there so take a moment to see what your teammates are doing “for the cause”.

It’s also time to start thinking about your canopy choices for JFTC. Perris is located at almost 1,500 feet above sea level and–as anyone who has done big ways there can attest–no wind and even down wind landings are not uncommon due to the light and variable wind conditions. Every participant should seriously consider upsizing to a slightly larger canopy–in past events we’ve always had a few participants miss out on the record dives due to landing injuries and I for one would like to declare JFTC ‘09 an INJURY FREE EVENT! So plan for success not only in your air skills but your canopy skills preparation.

Perris P3 is holding another Big Way Camp 3-6 September. This is the PERFECT format to brush up on your Big Way skills before heading into JFTC. Registration will open this week You can go to this link http://www.skydiveperris.com/calendar/bigwaycamp0909.asp. for more information or contact Jen Domenico jen@square1.com

Fundraising is going well and I’m pleased to see how many women have approached and even exceeded the minimum donation amount already. My goal is to give a record amount of money to City of Hope for this event and your work is going to make that possible. We’re still looking for event sponsorship at any level–if you have an idea or an “in”–from water to clothing to snacks to airplane or car hire discounts then please contact Andrea at tbc201@aol.com.

Thank you for your dedication and passion for JFTC. It’s going to be a great journey…
